These so called Prahl swords is the name given to the multifaceted brass hilt swords with an  eagle pommel . In reality they were made by three Philadelphia  makers to include Wm. Rose, Harvey, and Prahl between 1780 & 1815. This great Frontier Knife is an example of one of these swords that’s been cut down to a handy knife size. The blade is 9" and razor sharp.  When it was modified a sheet brass cross guard was installed. The original scabbard is made from deer hide. These are the kind of knifes that Lewis & Clark carried 25 years before the Bowie Knife was ever heard of.  This great knife is the subject of an article in the North South Trader’s C.W Magazine Vol.35 No.2 ,2010 a copy of which will go with the knife.  The knife has been in two prominent collections Steve Hench & Stan Smullen.
