This is a very early knife of what I beleive to be French origin that is early enough to have been used in the French & Indian War.  It shows signs of Indan use and the brass crossguard has been period replaced with an American one, as it contains a high copper content.  The double edged 9" blade is flat on one side and has a center raised rib on the obverse. The handle is grooved to fit the hand and originally had 4 tacks of which 2 remain. A great knife the would fit equally in an F & I war or Indian Collection.  Ex. Tom Wnuck Collection
