All original untouched 1873 Springfield #34xxx carbine with NO upgrades or modification. This carbine has all the earmarks of a Custer carbine with that great frontier look. The name "Sanchez" is carved into the cheekpiece area of the buttstock and has been there since it’s active service. There was an Apache warrior named Sanchez and this gun has that weathered appearance of an Indian gun also the saddle ring was removed which is an Indian feature. On the other handle there are some "Texas Rangers" trapdoor carbines in this serial range and there were Rangers named Sanchez. This new information was unearthed by Don Jones and shared with the collecting fraternity in an great article last fall for the TGCA.  Sold
