This American musket was carried by Joshua Griffing and has his name engraved on the side plate. He enlisted  in Capt. Mather's Connecticut Co. 3 Regt. of Lyme on Apr.24,1776 and was detached to Capt Joseph Jewett's 12th Co. In the Company paperwork it's stated that his personal property consisted of a musket, bayonet and cartridge box. So we know that he brought this musket and bayonet with him when he went off to War.  Refer to cover sheet for service record.  The musket is in really good shape with a functioning Wilson lock. All American brass furniture patterned after the British long land pattern musket. The ramrod is replaced but looks fine. The 43 3/4" barrel has a front sight and a underneath bayonet lug. The original bayonet has the X mark at the base of the blade. The stock is in wonderful shape with all original wood and a few hairline aged related cracks. The musket has a beautiful even deep brown patina overall.
