A very eye appealing  L.D. Nimschke  engraved '62 Colt Police . It's of a similar pattern as the one that R.L. Wilson used for the cover of his book  L.D Nimschke  Firearms Engraver . Actually, the engraving on this pistol is of a exhibition quality.  The 28011 serial  number would date this pistol as manufactured in 1864.  All the numbers match with the exception of the wedge which is correct.  The 6 1/2" barrel retains 30-40 % of it's heavily tarnished  silver finish which blends very well with the overall aged patina. The relief carved ivory grips have a acquired a beautiful aged patina.  A great addition to any quality Colt collection.
