1873 Colt S/A
1873 Colt S/A

This neat Colt lived two lives. First it was sold to the U.S govt. on Aug. 3rd, 1883 and saw action with the U.S Cav. during the Indian Wars. Then in 1891 Colt bought the pistol back where they nickel plated it and changed it to the new .41 cal. with a 4 3/4" barrel.  It was then shipped to western dealer E.C Meacham in St. Louis on July 10th, 1891.  The ivory grips were either added by Meacham or the cowboy who owned the gun. They've taken on a wonderful aged patina. The serial numbers match and the bore still has pretty good rifling . It will  come with Colt factory double letter . In all my years of buying and selling Colts this is the first factory double letter I've ever seen.  The pistol really has a wonderful western look and was in the famous Dr. Wm. Shugars collection for over 20 years.
