According to " The Brown Bess " by Erik Goldstein & Stuart Mowbray these Liege Brown Bess' are scarce.  These muskets were produced based on the Short Land Pattern( 2nd model) in the Low Countries of Belgium and the Netherlands in 1778 for England. The book states that the majority of these Liege muskets were sent to America for use by Loyalist militia's. They state as an example, a Liege Brown Bess Bayonet that was found in 1900 in a house in Huntington, N.Y. Huntington which is located on Long Isalnd was considered a Loyalist Fortress during the Rev. War. This musket exhibits some additions that imply American use.  One being a rear sighting groove filed into the barrel and second being the addition of a tack on the butt comb. The stock is all original with no replaced wood.  It has a couple of minor hairline cracks which are solid and stable.   The lock action is good and has a good lock up and release on both half and full cock. The musket exhibits a wonderful overall rich patina.
