This is a rather hard carbine to acquire and is best known in America simply as  a Terry Carbine. It is serial number 3791 and so stamped on the bolt, inside the lock plate and trigger guard(partially visible). The lock cavity has the stock makers initials JLU. The 25″barrel is marked Thomas Blisset -Liverpool on the top and is missing it’s rear sight. The breech area has single Birmingham Proof mark and Terry’s Patent .30 Bore which is worn. The lock has a British Crown followed by Calisher & Terry. The action works and the barrel still has pretty good rifling though it could use a good scrubbing . There’s a G.A stamped on the stock flat by the sideplate the meaning of which is unknown but may represent some kind of Georgia ownership mark. The two most famous of these carbines are now on exhibit in the Museum of the Confederacy in Richmond, Va. One was carried by  Pres. Jefferson Davis and the other by Gen. J.E.B. Stuart. The carbine I’m offering for sale here is the same model and bears the same markings as the two famous carbines on display at the Museum of the Confederacy . Both of those carbines were also sold by Thomas Blisset of Liverpool. He may well have had  a contract with the Confederacy that we as of yet don’t know about.  A truly rare Civil War Confederate carbine that would display nicely with any Confederate revolver but particularly a Le Mat.
