A very rare Kentucky pistol by George Schalk of Pottsville, Pa.  He was considered the grandfather of the Schuetzen Rifle here in America.  While still in his native Germany he apprenticed under German armorer Frederick Jaeger. He was a man of many talents and became widely known as a master gunsmith , engraver , marksman(Schuetzen matches) , and violin maker.  This beautiful pistol is the only known one of Kentucky design to exist by this famous maker.  An article by Hank Truslow for the "American Society of Arms Collectors"(which will come with the pistol) states only one known pistol made by Schalk and it's of a non-Kentucky top break design. This pistol exhibits Schalk's engraving talent.  The 5" double barrels are of .60  cal.  This is a very attractive and super rare kentucky pistol.
